Many furniture makers begin with lumber.
We can begin with the tree.
With in-house milling, kiln-drying capability, an extensive inventory of exceptional slabs and decades of traditional woodworking experience, Wallace Wood + Timber can manage projects from raw material through final fabrication and installation.
That gives us unusual control over the material, the design and the finished result.
Custom and portable sawmilling allows us to recover exceptional material before it becomes firewood or waste.
Wood is properly dried and prepared for furniture, architectural and structural applications.
Traditional joinery, modern fabrication and decades of experience inform every piece.
Projects can be delivered and installed as finished architectural elements, not simply shipped out of a workshop.
Every commission starts differently: an architect's drawing, an extraordinary slab, a restaurant concept, a tree from a family property. The goal is always the same: create something that belongs exactly where it ends up.

A mature maple, oak, walnut or elm can hold decades, or generations, of history.
When one has to come down, Wallace Wood + Timber can evaluate the tree, mill suitable logs, dry the material and design a finished piece around the character of the wood itself.
Months or years later, the tree can return to the same home as a dining table, mantel, desk, bench or other heirloom piece.
When you encounter an exceptional tree, give your clients another option besides disposal.
Partner With Wallace →We review the tree, location, condition and intended finished project.
Suitable sections are carefully preserved during removal.
Logs are converted into slabs and usable material.
The wood is dried and stabilized for its future use.
The finished piece is designed around the unique material available.
The completed piece is delivered and installed.

We work with business owners, architects, designers and builders to create custom wood elements that become part of the identity of a space.
From a single conference table to an integrated hospitality package, projects are fabricated in our Maine shop and delivered or installed throughout the region.

Wallace Wood + Timber works with architects, interior designers, builders and hospitality teams that need a shop capable of solving unusual material and fabrication challenges.
Bring us a finished specification, an early concept or simply a problem that needs to be solved.

The character of a finished piece begins with the material.
Our sawmilling, drying and sourcing capabilities allow us to work with unusual dimensions, locally recovered trees and one-of-a-kind slabs that would be difficult to source through conventional lumber channels.
Rather than designing around what happens to be available, we can often find, or create, the material the project requires.
Shop-based and portable milling for exceptional logs and custom dimensions.
Material is properly dried and prepared before it becomes furniture or architectural work.
An evolving inventory of distinctive slabs and specialty material available for custom commissions.

Long before modern fasteners, timber structures were built to lock together through carefully cut joinery.
We use traditional mortise-and-tenon techniques to create pavilions, pergolas and specialty timber structures with visible craftsmanship built into the structure itself.

Andrew Wallace founded Traditional Boatworks in 1998 after training in traditional wooden boatbuilding.
That background shaped an approach to woodworking built around material selection, structural integrity, precise joinery and the belief that what is hidden inside a piece matters as much as what can be seen.
Over the years, the work expanded far beyond boats, to custom furniture, large slabs, commercial interiors, architectural woodworking, timber structures and custom milling.
Wallace Wood + Timber represents that evolution while preserving the craft that started it.
Where it started: traditional wooden boatbuilding and restoration.
Our work is fabricated in Eliot, Maine, with projects delivered and installed throughout New England.
For furniture and selected custom fabrication, remote design, material review and professional delivery allow us to work with clients, designers and architects well beyond the immediate Seacoast.
